I came up with a few grid options. I chose grid option 3 for the grid system
for my book. I tested the grid out with text.

Visual Research
Before starting my book design, I looked up for some book layout references on
pinterest.

Progression
After getting some inspiration from the references, I began to designing the
layout of my book.

I showed Mr. Vinod my work and received some feedback from him. I
continued by working on layout for the headlines and body text first.

Upon approval of my layout for my headlines and body text, I proceed to
working on my book layout with pictures.

Mr.Vinod mentioned that my images are not placed in an interesting manner.
So I continued on working on the layout of my book.

I am still not satisfied with my layout so I continued to work on it
again.

Test Print
I teste printed 1 spread of my book in b&w and colour.

I noticed some things that needed to be fixed. So I went back to my Adobe Indesign and fix the issues. I went to test print the book mockup in b&w at ArchPrint after fixing the issues. The b&w mockup didn't have much issues, just that the binding could be better. They also did not help me trim the sides of my book.
I changed to a different store to print my coloured book mockup as the previous shop wasn't as good. I printed my book at MummyDesign. There were some minor issues with the first print as my artworks contains opacity. As they printed with bleed, the pages overlapped and created a line on my book. Therefore, they reprinted the book for me.
Specific Feedback: Would like to see flow of text first and how the
headline is placed. Do not incorporate pictures into the layout yet.
Week 7
Specific Feedback: Subtext isn't working, it needs to be placed
better. Page 5-6 uses a different grid layout, the whole book should have
the same grid layout.
Week 8
Specific Feedback: Image placement does not look interesting
enough.
Week 9
Specific Feedback: Ragging needs working. Number of pages must be in
signatures. Put page number.
Week 10
Specific Feedback: Don't forget to fill in typeset and paper on.
Can consider introducing some colours on the pages
REFLECTION
Experience
The journey of creating my book was not the easiest and smoothest process. There were times when I would spend hours meticulously arranging elements on a page, only to step back and realize it didn't quite capture the essence I was aiming for. However, with each attempt, I grew more resilient and determined. I embraced the iterative process, understanding that trial and error were essential components in my book design process.
Observation
Throughout the process of creating my book, I found myself grappling with the layout, particularly the placement of text and images. It seemed like a simple task at first, but as I delved deeper, I realized the complexity of achieving a harmonious and visually appealing design. The challenge was to strike a balance between the text and images, ensuring they complemented each other and enhanced the overall reading experience.
Findings
I discovered that trial and error played a crucial role in finding the optimal layout. I explored using different arrangements and trying out various combinations of text and images until I found the one that I am satisfied with. I also found that having visual references is very important as it gives you a direction of where you're headed instead of just aimlessly diving into the book design process.
