LECTURES
Week 6
Two Main Type of Research
- Quantitative Research
- Qualitative Research
Quantitative Research
- Useful when collecting and documenting large quantities of information.
- Quantitative research is very good when collating research files into target audiences and backing up any of your statistical or factual claims.
- It gives us different types of information.
- Qualitative research studies more into the personal opinions of people and gives us small portions of high quality detail on topics, as oppose to large quantities of statistical information.
Purposes of Research
Audience Research
- Several different topics such as audience profiling, demographics, consumer behaviour, consumer attitudes and audience awareness.
- The pros to conducting audience research is that it helps producers understand and communicate with their target audiences.
- The cons however to conducting audience research its that it the information may not tie in with your product, and you may have to change certain aspects of your content just so it has an audience.
- This is not exclusively bad depending on how you look at it, but it does effect your creative choices and reduce freedom within ones own work.
Market Research
- This could e research into different areas such as things like, your product's market, any competition, competitor analysis and advertising placement.
Production Research
- Production research is very broad and covers as much or as little as you want it to. It can consist of many things, for example it can be research into, content, viability, media placement, finance, costs, technological resources, personnel and locations.
- The pros to conducting production research is that you can not only start to make budgets, equipment lists, personnel contacts and location recces, but you can also justify your own ideas through similar content and production methods. Of course the downside is that not every film maker will find the value in this as they may be trying to create something original and use new methods or technologies.

Week 10
After getting feedback from Dr, Jinchi, I changed the questions. Upon
approval from Dr. Jinchi, I sent out my questionnaire and started collecting
data.

FEEDBACK
Week 9
- Include literature in your justification
Week 10
- Put in what product is featured in the survey
- Add a short justification for quesiton 1 & 2
- Questions need to be change so that participants can better understand them
Week 11
- Tabulate the data in one cell
- Highlight the relevant answers from the list
- Add percentages to support my summary
REFLECTION
Research Implementation is probably my favourite assignment out of all the assignments I have for this subject. It seems quite interesting but at the same time very scary. As I am doing a Google survey for my research, my responses must be minimally 80 responses. This assignment brought me out of my comfort zone as I had to promote my Google survey to my friends and family. I am not the type of people who normally text people. But for this assignment, I had to get out of my comfort zone and text all my friends and family to promote my Google survey and get responses. My friends and family were helpful as they helped me with promoting my survey as well. In the end, it makes me realize maybe doing a Google survey is not that scary. I was able to reach the minimum number of responses in just 4 days. I also had to analyze data for this assignment. Analyzing the data was not easy. I was afraid I would analyze the data wrong as well. I took me quite a while to analyze the data, but I managed to do it in the end. Overall, it was a pretty good experience completing this task.
