FEEDBACK

Week 2
  • Its important to have background as it brings a smooth transition of what I want to discuss to a more in-depth discussion
  • Make sure the titles are not too general
  • Good idea merging food packaging and brand perception under background 
Week 3
  • Start changing the tenses in Research Methodology to past tense
  • Try to find direct articles
  • Good flow for food packaging section
  • Put screenshot of pie chart
  • Insert relevant images
  • Put in your own thoughts to explain Nestle's and Kellogg's application of typography
Week 4
  • Writing structure is well laid out
  • Add in secondary source for graphics section
  • Sum up findings 
  • Create outlines on the document
Week 5
  • Add more direct quotes to your writing
  • Written content is kept well to the topic
  • Way of writing is interesting as there are not much repeating words
  • Has clarity in writing
Week 6
  • Well written abstract & conclusion
  • Add in another limitation (lack of participants)
  • Optional for me to add project recommendation as I have already suggested future research
  • Add in justifications of survey questionnaires
Week 7
  • Put short description for background
  • Put direct quote answers in paragraph
  • All is well, just make minor adjustments then can submit
Week 9
  • Both ideas can crossover, but idea 2 is better
  • Cleanliness and simplicity should be the direction for the book
Week 10
  • Title needs to be shorten
  • Can remove subheadings for content if you want
  • Fruit loops doesnt have to be arranged in the same order
  • Progress is good, typeface was well chosen
Week 11
  • Work is good to go
  • Very consistent
  • Has a system where we can see the whole identity of the book design according to the topic of my research
  • Remember to add page number
Week 12
  • Add research question and objective to problem statement
  • For findings and discussion, can separate it into topics

  • Put a fullstop for research objectives
  • Weave elements from the first section to the second one.
Week 14
  • Remove all the word limits for the titles
  • Add another appendix for survey results

REFLECTION

Experience

Completing the design research dissertation module was a challenging yet rewarding experience for me. The research topic I chose to explore deeply resonated with my interests, which made the journey all the more engaging. However, it wasn't an easy task to complete the dissertation. Despite the difficulties, I persevered and ultimately produced a comprehensive dissertation that I am proud of. There were times where I was in doubt with my dissertation but Dr. Jinchi was always there for me and constantly giving me reassurance which has helped me significantly throughout my whole research journey. Each obstacle I encountered served as a valuable learning opportunity, enabling me to develop resilience and problem-solving skills.

Observation

Throughout my journey in completing the design research dissertation module, I made several profound observations that significantly shaped my understanding of the subject. One of the most significant realizations was the crucial role played by conducting a robust literature review and the relevance of leveraging data collected from the previous subject, specifically design research methodology. The work that I have done from the previous subject has helped by easing the process of writing my dissertation.

Findings

One significant finding from completing the design research dissertation module was my newfound ability to transform my written work into an ebook. As I embarked on the task of formatting and structuring my dissertation for digital consumption, I acquired valuable skills in visual design, typography, and digital publishing tools. By making my dissertation into an ebook, I was not only able to enhance the accessibility of my work but also expand its potential impact of reaching a wider audience.

Another significant finding from this subject is that I learn how to write a research article based on the findings and insights from my dissertation. Throughout the process, I gained valuable skills and insights that facilitated the transformation of my extensive dissertation into a concise and focused article suitable for publication.

In conclusion, the completion of the design research dissertation module was an enriching and transformative journey. It provided me with valuable experiences, observations, and findings that broadened my understanding of the subject. Although the process was kind of demanding, it offered me profound personal and academic growth. This journey has equipped me with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue further academic endeavors and contribute meaningfully to the field.
